Small family winery in Mantineia, Arcadia. Among the first wineries in Greece with organic certification and wine tourism certification from the Greek National Tourism Organization. Four different people, a farming family with love, vision, and passion for the organic cultivation of our land. We struggle, we worry, we create, we get angry, we laugh, we play! But... at the end of the day and of our efforts, we rejoice like little children over our products, which we consider the most precious in the world. Get to know us—each of us has something interesting to say.

Our Story

Our Story

Our Story
"

It all started with Evangelos Kalogris, who in 1986, upon finishing his studies in economics, returned to his homeland certain that he did not want to work in that field. A nature lover, idealist, and pioneer, he began cultivating his family’s estates in the plain of Mantinia using organic and biodynamic methods. His main goal was the revival and regeneration of many types of local biodiversity that had begun to disappear due to extensive conventional farming. Initially a viticulturist and, after some years, a winemaker as well, he prepared his first wines and received the first organic certification from the DIO organization in 1993, which had just been established in Greece. He then decided to restore the old 1870 mansion his grandfather had left him so that he could welcome visitors. We arrive at the present day, where, together with his wife Christina and their two daughters, Sandy and Tatiana, they all work together in the vineyards and the visitor-friendly winery, each adding their own unique touch!

In the plain of Mantineia, where there are some of the highest vineyards in Europe, at 670 meters, lie the family’s privately owned 30-stremma organic vineyards. The local variety is Moschofilero, cultivated with organic and biodynamic methods, at the foothills of the fir-covered Mainalo. The microclimate is characterized by harsh winters with heavy rains and snow, frequent summer storms, and particularly low nighttime temperatures in the summer compared to the rest of the Peloponnese. The large temperature difference between day and night during the ripening period allows the grapes to maintain exceptional, “crisp” acidity and to develop complex aromatic characteristics. The soils are clay-limestone, poor and well-drained, which results in forcing the vines to develop deep roots, limiting their vigor and yielding concentrated grapes with high aromatic purity.

Winemaking Philosophy

Winemaking Philosophy

We don’t remove, we don’t add. Nature knows, and it lacks nothing. We don’t like to rush or stress our plants, because the fruit we’re given will do all the work afterward. Classical music plays daily in the vineyards, all tasks are done by hand, and the winemaking uses only indigenous yeasts without additives.
