Our Story
Our Story
Oinotropai Estate is a modern, visitable boutique winery just a few kilometers from the city of Messinia, Kalamata. Sixty-five stremmas that began as yet another pursuit of those who return to the countryside after retirement for a higher-quality life with less stress and more fresh air. This is how the winemaker’s father, Dimitris, thought shortly after his retirement, when he poured all his love and passion for the vineyard into the first own-rooted Carignan and Tempranillo vines in the late 1980s. In the years that followed, the vineyards expanded, and in 2011 the winery was built, which borrows its name from Greek mythology. The 1980s provided the leaven for an unceasing engagement with the land and the vine. Each harvest is a challenge, each wine a new experience with a common denominator: love.
