Our Story
In the shadow of Pangaion and Falakro, where the myth of Dionysus meets the history of wine, it was born first as a thought, before it became a winery, before it became a name. It was a need to return to the essence of creation, to the voice of Greek varieties, to the truth of the grape and to respect for the land that gives birth to it. In Drama, a place with a primordial relationship with wine, Oenops Wines was founded in late 2015. But the beginning lies further back in time, in the journey of oenologist Nikos Karatzas, from the amphitheaters of Bordeaux to the paths among vineyards and people who cultivate their land with faith and perseverance. For us, wine was never a product. It was an intention to create. From day one, we consciously chose a path that seems simple but requires courage: not to have our own vineyards, but to have our own people. Viticulturists who continue centuries-old traditions, who inherited vineyards from their grandparents and care for them as an extension of themselves. We choose mature vineyards, usually over fifteen years old, where the roots have gained experience and the grape bears true character and memory. Each variety comes from the place where it belongs. From where it learned to adapt and express itself authentically.
