Our Story
Our Story
Estates Costa Lazaridi were born from Kostas Lazaridis’ vision to place the wines of Drama on the global wine map and share with the world the uniqueness of the region and its terroir. Kostas Lazaridis, the father of modern winemaking in Drama, laid the foundations for modern viticulture in the area and later expanded to Athens with the Oinotria Gi estate. It all began in 1979 with the planting of the first modern 100-stremma vineyard of Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Assyrtiko, which to this day remain the main varieties cultivated on the slopes of Drama. Today, the vineyards of Estates Costa Lazaridi stretch across four areas that, by harnessing the microclimate of the Drama prefecture, cover a total of 2,800 stremmata and reach an altitude of 900 meters. With respect for the environment, we highlight the region’s dynamic terroir by applying integrated management standards that ensure high-quality grapes and by following the philosophy that great wines are born in the vineyard. Winemaking takes place in our modern facilities, under the supervision of our experienced oenologists. Our multi-awarded wines belong to the Amethystos, Château Julia, and Domaine Costa Lazaridi ranges. In addition, Estates Costa Lazaridi produce the traditional tsipouro and ouzo Idoniko, the Methexis distillates, and the Aceto Botanico balsamic vinegars.
